This year the Basic Income Earth Network World Congress is being hosted in Glasgow from Wednesday 18th to Saturday 21st August.
And for the first time, this global meeting of the basic income movement will be hosted online.
This year’s event will open with a message from First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon.
It is being run on a “pay what you can” basis and there is still time to sign up.
The theme this year is idea to reality. BIEN 2021 will explore all the big ideas that come up during a basic income conversation – and consider their implications for making a basic income a reality.
Among the participants:
- Guy Standing, author of Basic Income: And how we can make it happen
- Annie Miller, Co-Founder of Basic Income Network Scotland
- Geoff Crocker, presenting the case made in his book Basic Income and Sovereign Money.
There will be several films screened, artistic approaches to advocacy exhibited, and a whole programme led by activists and advocates focusing on how we turn this biggest of ideas into reality.
